Before you can sit down at that computer and design the most beautiful vehicle wrap ever seen or put your shop to work installing vinyl, you have to make the sale. And remember, the sale you make today could be the referral that makes your next sale that much easier. Let’s review some key steps to making sure clients choose your shop and keep coming back for more.
We are in our fourth year of business now and I can tell you for certain that the first three years were the hardest. I have several friends in the wrap business around the country that have been doing this longer than I have and when i would talk with them on the phone or email I would get frustrated because they would tell me of the accounts they got because someone walked in the door or was referred to them. This became evident to me that in order to grow my business I would need the help of my customers. I began to groom my customers to sell for me. The way I did this is I educated my customers on the wrap process and what they need to know to make an educated decision. I always let them know the information that I was telling them was good to know regardless if they went with us or one of the other shops in town. Generating sales is one thing, and keeping a customer is another.
As someone that has purchased several vehicle wraps for my business, I can tell you that all of them have been bad experiences. I have used several different companies and all of them left me disappointed and none of them got a referral from me.
First, all of the designers didn't want to produce the type of wrap I wanted as far as the image I wanted to convey. They argued and fought me all of the way. I wanted something conservative and classy they all waned to make my vehicles look like an ice cream truck.
Secondly, none of them met the schedule that we agreed to up front to get the job scheduled into the shop.
Thirdly, Once they took possession of the vehicle, they took longer than agreed to. Since we had to take a revenue generating vehicle off of the road, this was important to us.
Lastly, bubbling and shrinking has been an issue, even on contours that I don't think are that extreme.
Why did I end up on this site? I am very much considering starting my own wrap business. With 28 years experience in a different industry that you thrive or die on the vine based on your customer service and product quality, I think I can take business away from these guys.
