St. Paul, Minnesota-based 3M announces the appointment of Mark Blondeel as managing director for 3M's Saudi Arabia operations.
3M says Blondeel will lead its strategic plans to invest in the country following the foreign-owned trading license it received from the Saudi Arabian government recently.
According to Lars Hanseid, area vice president for 3M’s central and eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region, phase one of the company’s expansion into Saudi Arabia is underway as the company establishes its manufacturing footprint there.
“This is an exciting time to be in Saudi Arabia, especially since the Kingdom is moving steadily toward economical diversifications, investing in manufacturing, health care, research and development,” Blondeel says. “We have an exceptional team here at 3M Saudi, and I am certain that we can continue our strong operational footprint (and add) value to the government and private sector.”
Phase two of the company’s development in that country will focus on further expanding manufacturing capabilities to cover more of the local market as well as a plan to establish research and development centers in the Kingdom.
3M has had a presence in the country since 1980, focusing on operating three customer technical and learning centers.
