Banner Ups’ Automated Finishing Machine is Awarded Patent

Wellington, Ohio-based E.L. Hatton Sales Co., makers of Banner Ups adhesive grommet tabs and other sign and banner finishing products, announces that it has been awarded a U.S. patent for its Banner Ups BravoBanner System, an automated banner finishing system.

According to the company, the BravoBanner system automatically applies Banner Ups BravoTabs and BravoTape with a few keystrokes. Dual heads apply tabs and tape simultaneously along the top and bottom edge of the banner and are adjustable to accommodate variable widths. With hem taping speeds of up to 80 feet per minute, the BravoBanner system can finish up to 150 banners per hour with 1-2 operators, the company says. The machine also punches rope holes.

The system also has an efficient mechanical footprint (less than 50 square feet—about the size of a large office desk) and low electricity requirements, Banner Ups says.

“The BravoBanner System automates the banner finishing process for high volume banner production,” says company president, Rick Hatton. “Surprisingly, as mature as the banner business is, that has not yet been done. This innovation can create a new model for large-scale banner production efficiency and cost.”
