Los Gatos, California-based digital signage media player manufacturer BrightSign announces that it is teaming up with Los Angeles-based Felbro Displays, which designs and manufactures point-of-purchase displays. Together, the companies are developing a new self-serve ordering kiosk geared at the fast-food and quick-serve restaurant markets, among others.
The kiosk the companies are developing measures 18” wide, 40” high and just 4” deep. Felbro Displays says it designed the kiosk with flexibility in mind, offering restaurants a variety of installation options: It can be freestanding, wall-mounted, and integrated with countertops, among other options.
Aside from BrightSign’s XT1143 digital signage media player, each unit also includes a 27-inch ELO PCAP touch screen; Verifone UX-series transaction-processing software; and a Star Micronics SK1-32 POS receipt printer.
“Self-serve ordering at kiosks has the potential to be the next big thing in restaurant-based digital signage,” says Jeff Hastings, BrightSign’s CEO. “Similar to how digital menu boards reinvented the restaurant experience over the past decade, kiosks will be central to restaurant design in the years ahead, as proprietors further explore the use of technology to enrich the customer experience.”
The companies say that once installed, the kiosks are easy to maintain and offer a host of options for future customization.
