Clear Channel Airports (CCA), a division of Clear Channel Outdoor, a leading marketer of outdoor and airport advertising, has teamed with multi-media company, Monster Media, to create the first gesture-based digital signage network to be featured in select airports across the United States. The inaugural interactive attraction is set to be installed in Seattle–Tacoma International Airport’s (Sea-Tac Airport) with plans to go live on June 1.
Gesture technology, similar to that used in many of today’s cell phones, enables advertisers to create a full-body interactive experience. Broadening the boundaries of the powerful out-of-home (OOH) advertising medium, the technology allows for dynamic multi-media imagery to be integrated with branded messaging, generating a one-of-a-kind, immersive encounter for users.

The wall display is presented on an LCD monitor consisting of nine 46” screens arranged in a 3’ x 3’ square grid pattern. The entire unit, including the framework, measures to 91” in height and 144” in width. The multi-touch LCD screen functions as both digital signage and a presentation system for conveying multi-media information. Users interact with multi-touch applications by pointing at or touching the screen.
