Eastman Invests in Virginia Plant to Support its PPF Market

Kingsport, Tennessee-based Eastman Chemical Co., which makes advanced materials and specialty additives, announces a significant investment into its Martinsville, Virginia site.

The company says it has completed the installation of a new urethane extrusion line at the plant which, coupled with sourcing partnerships, will reinforce the company’s paint protection films and window films business.

Eastman says its paint protection film business has continued to grow, and that’s one of the reasons for the Martinsville facility’s expansion, which the company will use to manufacture the next generation of paint protection film. Over the past year Eastman has also launched a Performance Films Patterns and Software Center of Excellence.

“This is part of a series of investments we’re making to continue innovating and differentiating Eastman as a uniquely integrated manufacturer and marketer of paint protection films,” says Darrell Reed, commercial director. “We are excited that this investment provides significant flexibility for future innovation of Eastman’s paint protection film portfolio and achieves Eastman’s vision of being the world’s preferred manufacturer of paint protection films.”

Paint protection films is part of Eastman’s advanced materials division and is one of many industries served by the company, which operates in more than 100 countries and did $9.5 billion in revenue last year. Headquartered in Kingsport, the company employs about 14,500 people around the world.
