JDS Industries releases plans to expand its secondary warehouse, located on the east side of the JDS parking lot at its headquarters in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, adding 57,000 square feet for a total of 110,000 square feet. Both warehouses at its headquarters will now boast a total of 250,000 square feet.
“We’re running out of space,” says JDS communications specialist Brenna Walsh, adding that the plans were announced earlier this month before construction equipment arrived on the scene.
The dirt work is the first step in preparing the construction site, Walsh says. According to the schedule, the steel and wall panels will be installed this summer.
“If all goes according to plan, the expansion should be completed by November,” she says.
The expansion of the secondary warehouse is not the only recent update to the company’s infrastructure. Walsh explains that a mezzanine and conveyor for products were added to its main warehouse in order to utilize the vertical space of the facility. Plans for this addition began approximately four months ago, and the company is still adding the final touches to the project.
The project is also a continuation of work the company has been doing across all its U.S. facilities. Last year it expanded three of its 14 warehouses around the country and had done the same to four others in 2014.
