This featured project is as timely as the day’s headlines; coming to us from Las Vegas, site of this week’s Consumer Electronics Show, an annual event that showcases the most cutting-edge technology on the planet.
Making its annual appearance at the show is Lincolnshire, Illinois-based LG Business Solutions USA, one of the largest makers of display screens in the world, along with myriad other electronic devices and appliances that serve both the consumer and the business markets.
The CES is a huge deal to companies such as LG, and this year it decided to deliver the “wow” factor via its “LG OLED Wave,” a trade show display meant to stop people in their tracks.
Constructed with an array of flexible, open-frame commercial displays, the Wave is made up of 200 55-inch LG OLED digital signage screens—128 of them convex and concave; 72 of them flat. Measuring 20’ high x 82’ wide, the exhibit’s visuals are meant to “display the glory of the natural world as it has never been seen before.”
Images include shots of the power of the oceans and the birth of the Aurora Borealis in the northern sky. Combined with the surround sound, the display takes viewers on a journey to some of the most memorable events and locations on the planet, including beneath the oceans’ waves.
But, as the company enthusiastically explains, there’s more:
“Visitors to LG’s CES 2020 booth also can marvel at The Fountain, a hero zone that features a moving performance from unique 65-inch LG OLED rollable displays. The Fountain wows visitors with a synchronized performance from 20 of LG’s groundbreaking rollable OLED TVs. The razor-thin flexible displays show off their superior image quality while rolling up and down in an entertaining, choreographed sequence. The rollable LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R is the first TV in the world with a screen that can completely disappear from view, withdrawing into its stylish aluminum base when not in use.”
Over the years LG’s OLED installations have made appearances at large trade show gatherings all around the world, picking up awards along the way and never failing to delight and awe the audiences, the company says.
