The University of Texas has chosen Purchase, New York-based ANC, which designs, integrates, operates and creates content for video display systems for stadiums, arenas and other entertainment facilities, to upgrade more than 14,000 square feet of LED video displays at its Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium.
The new system at the stadium will be highlighted by a main video screen in the south end zone that will measure 55 ¾’ high x 134 ½’ wide. This one display will total more than 7,505 square feet, making it the fourth-largest in the NCAA, according to NCAA. It contains more than 2.7 million physical pixels.
In addition to the main video display, the renovation includes new LED displays on the sideline fascia, tunnels and end zones.
The upgrade had ANC partnering with Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc.’s Diamond Vision System Division to integrate more than 14,000 square feet of Mitsubishi’s XL Series LED technology throughout the stadium. The displays are synchronized by ANC’s vSOFT operating system.
“One of our top priorities is offering an exceptional fan experience at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium, helping to make it one of the most exciting venues in college sports,” says Texas Men’s athletics director Mike Perrin. “Upgrading to LED technology throughout the stadium will enhance the viewing experience for our fans.”
The video display system is part of a technology upgrade that also includes a new scoreboard for the University’s new tennis facility. Through a multi-year partnership, ANC will create content for and operate these displays on campus during live events, including all University of Texas home games.
In operation for more than 90 years, Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium is the eighth-largest stadium in the U.S. and the ninth-largest in the world.
