Former 3M CEO Lewis Lehr Dies at 95

Lewis Lehr, CEO of St. Paul, Minnesota-based 3M from 1980 to 1986, died in Phoenix on Saturday, July 30, at age 95, according to a report from the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The paper reports that Lehr is credited with getting 3M into the health care business, launching its space research unit and expanding the company’s reach into China in 1984.

Lehr was on the company’s board of directors from 1980 to 1991. He “was a visionary who helped build 3M into the enterprise we are today,” the company’s current CEO, Inge Thulin, told the newspaper.
