Employees at Houston-based US LED turned out at Sam Houston Park in their hometown last weekend to participate in the “Race for the Cure,” as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Race for the Cure is an annual fun run/walk event held in communities all over the country to benefit the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation.
This is the third year that US LED employees have participated in the race, according to marketing manager Norman Kirby. He says the tradition began when one of the company’s employees was diagnosed with breast cancer and ultimately beat it.
There are about 20 employees who participated in Saturday’s run, he says. The company employs just over 50.
The company prides itself on helping its community whenever it can, Kirby says.
