Chicago-based specialty substrate manufacturer GPA announces that it has been named a 2016 Best Workplace in the Americas in the medium-sized category by the Warrendale, Pennsylvania-based Printing Industries of America, a nonprofit industry trade group. This is the ninth time GPA has won a Best Workplace award since the awards were created in 2000.
According to the nonprofit, the award recognizes graphic communications companies for their outstanding human relations efforts that contribute to a successful workplace. A panel of human resources experts evaluates the submissions and selects the winners. Criteria include management practices; work environment; training and development; recognition and awards; workplace health and safety; health and wellness; financial security; and work-life balance.
“Winning the Best Workplace award is always a tremendous distinction for us,” says Heather Jenkins, GPA’s director of human resources. “Programs like these allow companies like ours the opportunity to focus time and attention on internal programs and obtain industry feedback on best practices. It is particularly important to us, as a growing company, to remain true to the values that GPA was founded on and honor them as we continue to evolve as an industry leader. This designation lets us know that we’re continuing on the right track.”
