Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) President and CEO Nancy Fletcher called for unity in the out of home advertising industry on Monday. During her opening remarks at the TAB/OAAA Out of Home Media Conference & Marketing Expo, being held in Phoenix, Fletcher called for a summit where all of the associations and organizations representing the out of home advertising industry, including digital place-based media, could meet and determine future areas of cooperation and collaboration.
“If we’re smart, we’ll view the big picture,” said Fletcher. “Out of home media, no matter what its form or delivery method, is competing ... against other media such as broadcast and print.”
Fletcher’s remarks come as the out of home advertising industry is gathered for the first time since 2008. Her message of collaboration was echoed by Traffic Audit Bureau (TAB) President Joe Philport. “We have so many opportunities to collaborate, that we can only benefit from our increasing abilities,” said Philport.
The theme of collaboration and momentum is expected to dominate the two day conference, which culminates in the awarding of the coveted OBIE Best of Show award, given to the year’s top out of home creative work.
