Woodridge, Illinois-based trade show display and exhibit manufacture Orbus Exhibit & Display Group announces its participation in a pair of fundraisers to benefit the Andrew Grene Foundation.

AGF is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting the people of Haiti through education, loans and building projects. AGF was founded by one of Orbus’ board chairmen, Tim Perutz, in honor of his close friend Andrew Grene, who passed away in the 2010 Haitian earthquake while working on a project for the United Nations.

In early September, Orbus employees participated in an ice cream social, which raised $714 for AGF.

Before that, in July, one of the company’s founders and board chairman, Simon Perutz, started the “Miles for AGF” initiative in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Andrew Grene High School in Haiti. Participants in Miles for AGF, which include employees from the U.S. and the UK, are asked to pledge a donation of at least 5 cents for every mile that they walk, run or bike during a year’s time. The goal is to raise $100,000, which will be put towards an endowment for the Andrew Grene Foundation to ensure resources are always available in the years ahead.

“In recognition of the fifth anniversary of Andrew Grene High School, I wanted to start something special,” says Simon Perutz. “By incorporating something that people do every day like walking, Miles for AGF is an accessible, easy and meaningful way for any person to make a difference in the lives of the people of Haiti.”
