Pepsi Expands Sponsorship/Signage Deal with Cubs

Pepsi has upped its sponsorship stake at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, home of Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs.

Pepsi, already the “official soft drink” of the Chicago Cubs, now owns naming rights to what’s called the “batter’s eye” section of the park in center field, just above the blank green wall that provides the background the hitters see while standing in the batter’s box.

The deal will make Pepsi’s logo much more prominent in the park this season, with the company no doubt hoping the team picks up where it left off last year, when it finished with the third-best record in baseball and made it to the National League Championship Series for the first time since 2003. The team’s last World Series appearance was 1945.
