The first National Sunset Print Awards took place recently at the headquarters of LexJet, a digital printing and supplies company based in Sarasota, Florida.
Taking home the first place prize was South Carolina-based photographer Tammy Bevins for his image, “Permanent Bond,” which she says is a photo depicting the bond her twin sons have had since before they were born and continue to share today.
The 29 photographers chosen to participate in the final contest had all won a Sunset Print Award at the state or regional level in competitions across the United States this year. Bevins won hers at the Professional Photographers of South Carolina competition.
Bevins runs Nuvo Images in Charleston, South Carolina, with her daughter and son-in-law, both of whom are award-winning photographers as well.
An expert team of judges chose the winners at the national competition.
The second place finish went to Julia Kelleher of Jewel Images in Bend, Oregon. Her winning entry was called “He Has Arrived.” The third place finish went to Pete Wright for “Temptress.”
