Switzerland’s swissQprint Opens Ink Laboratory

Switzerland-based large-format printer manufacturer swissQprint announces the creation of an ink laboratory at its headquarters, which is also where the development and manufacturing of its large-format printers—including the mechanics, control systems and software—occurs.

The company says the newly formed Swiss team of ink specialists communicates eye-to-eye with ink suppliers. The goal in creating the lab is to ensure the quality of inks used by the company’s printers and their application suitability, it says.

“This expansion of our competence is designed to give customers an all-round optimum solution,” says Reto Eicher, CEO of swissQprint.

SwissQprint currently employs more than 100 people at its headquarters in Switzerland, and intends to continuously grow, Eicher says. Earlier this year it introduced its first roll-to-roll printer, the Karibu.

Aside from its Swiss headquarters, about 40 other employees work at swissQprint subsidiaries in the U.S., Spain, Germany and Japan. These facilities act as sales and service operations to complement its more than 30 distribution partners in these countries.
